The UAE capital City is Abu Dhabi although Dubai at present seems to be better known - that is rapidly changing as Abu Dhabi experiences a period of extreme growth. The drive between Dubai and Abu Dhabi is about 90 mins. Both cities are modern and in a state of constant growth. We are based in Dubai but can deliver and collect from Abu Dhabi for a small fee.

PRODUCTION

There are many production companies in the UAE - Please contact us for our recommendations.

CARNET

There is no carnet system in the UAE but we strongly advise having a serialised equipment list, showing value and country of manufacture (multiple copies)

CLIMATE

A sub-tropical climate, In winter from Mid-October to Mid-April the weather is perfect for shoots with average temperatures between 25 - 30C. In summer (June to October) temperatures increase to around 40C+ with high humidity.

LANGUAGE

National language is Arabic but English is spoken nearly everywhere

FILM PROCESSING

There is a Kodak Q lab - but they are close to closing up shop as throughput very low with Digital having nearly finished them off - please check with us for availability

FOOD & BEVERAGE

Every type of International food is available in the UAE

Alcohol is only available within Hotel complexes

ELECTRICITY / POWER

220/240 volts at 50 cycles. - 3 pin

CULTURAL SENSITIVITIES

The UAE is Western friendly. However in public places a degree of respect is preferred with regard to Women’s Clothing. However Dubai and Abu Dhabi are well versed in hosting international and local productions for Editorial Advertising campaigns.

CURRENCY

The UAE currency is the Dirham and is linked to the US$ @ AED3.68 to US$1

ACCOMMODATION

Almost every Major Hospitality Group is represented in Dubai - hit Google, you will generally get a better rate when booking from outside the country.

MEDICAL

The UAE has excellent Government and Private healthcare facilities - there are reciprocal agreements with many countries re Emergencies but we would advise as with all travel taking out Medical Insurance.

MOBILE PHONES

The two local providers of mobile network have roaming arrangements with most international providers. Sim cards for Pre-Paid services can be purchased on arrival. We can pre-purchase for you and advise you of your number before you arrive
